History of the place
In 1724, a Marian pilgrimage chapel was built on a meadow near Komárov, which was replaced in 1733 by the pilgrimage church of the Virgin Mary. This church became the center of a new settlement called Malá Mariacela, named after the Styrian pilgrimage site of Mariazell. The settlement was established along the road leading from Dornych to the Komárov island between the branches of the Svratka and Svitava rivers. By 1743, 22 houses had been built here. Malá Mariacela was originally part of Komárov, but in 1827 it became an independent municipality. In 1850, it was reattached to Komárov. In the 1970s and 1980s, the original buildings were demolished during the expansion of Hodonínská Street.
